Who We Are

The Victim Justice Coalition (VJC) was formed in direct response to the King County Summit on Crime Survivors’ call to action. We are a volunteer coalition of current and former victim advocates, attorneys, crime victims and survivors, and their families and friends.

The Summit highlighted an urgent need for a stable, countywide, survivor-centered advocacy program that provides a single point of access to clear education about investigations and the court process, legal advocacy, peer support, and trauma-informed therapy. Our mission is to ensure that no one has to navigate the path to justice alone.

What We Do

Provide a Single Point of Access to Care

We serve as a comprehensive hub that connects victims and survivors to legal advocacy, trauma-informed therapy, civil representation, peer support, and other critical services — ensuring no one has to navigate alone.

Elevate Survivor Voices Across All Systems

We create meaningful and accessible opportunities for victims and survivors to share their experiences with policymakers, media, and community leaders — making sure lived experience drives systemic change in criminal justice reform.

Empower Legislative Participation

We support and guide victims in engaging with the legislative process, from testifying before lawmakers to weighing in on policy decisions and advancing survivor-led reforms that strengthen justice and healing.

Safeguard and Expand Victims’ Rights

We champion the protection and advancement of Washington’s Constitutional Victims’ Bill of Rights, ensuring victims are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect equal to that of the accused.

Increase Public Awareness and Education

We educate communities and leaders about the unmet needs and service gaps of violent crime survivors, pressing for accountability, compassion, and funding that prioritizes victims first.

Build Strong, Collaborative Partnerships

We work with service providers, legal professionals, law enforcement, and policymakers to create a coordinated, victim-centered response that truly empowers survivors.
